Dmitri Hvorostovsky Sings of War, Peace, Love and Sorrow now available on Delos

War, Peace, Love and Sorrow, Dmitri Hvorostovsky’s latest release for Delos Music, is now available in hard copy and download. The Siberian baritone returns to his roots, revisiting favorite roles and recording new additions to his repertoire with longtime collaborator Constantine Orbelian conducting.

Selections include the first scene with Andrei Bolkonsky’s opening aria from Prokofiev’s War and Peace, the final scene from Rubinstein’s The Demon, and selections from three Tchaikovsky works: Mazeppa (the title character’s aria), Iolanta (Robert’s aria), and The Queen of Spades (Tomsky’s ballad and song).

Joining Dmitri and Constantine for this release are the Academic State Symphony Orchestra of Russia, “Evgeny Svetlanov,” the Helikon Opera Chorus, soprano Asmik Grigorian, mezzo-soprano Irina Shishkova, bass Mikhail Guzhov, tenor Igor Morozov, and countertenor Vadim Volkov.
