A Triumph in Toronto

In Toronto, Dmitri Hvorostovsky gave a triumphant performance of arias and duets alongside soprano Anna Netrebko and tenor Yusif Eyvazov. The Toronto Star lauded the Siberian baritone’s “blistering performance” from Rubinstein’s The Demon as well as Hvorostovsky and Netrebko’s “gripping rendition” of the final scene from Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin. Dubbed “Trio Magnifico,” Italian conductor Jader Bignamini led the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra in the sold-out concert–dubbed “Trio Magnifico”–at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
