Dmitri Hvorostovsky begins his 2014-15 performance season in Paris with a performance of La traviata before touring Russia with Constantine Orbelian and giving a recital with Ivari Ilja in London. A new CD also comes out this September.

  • Dmitri opens Opéra National de Paris season with La traviata

    On September 8, Dmitri Hvorostovsky stars as Giorgio Germont in the Opéra National de Paris’s production of La traviata, which opens the company’s 2014-15 season. Singing the first performances of his own opera and concert season, Dmitri reprises his signature role of Verdi’s paterfamilias in an interpretation directed by Benoît Jacquot and conducted by Dan Ettinger.

    Continuing through September 24, the performances reunite Dmitri with Diana Damrau as Violetta after the two headlined the Royal Opera House’s production of the same work earlier this spring. Francesco Meli sings the role of Alfredo.

  • Dmitri Hvorostovsky spends fall with Verdi in Paris, concerts in Russia, and recital in London

    Dmitri Hvorostovsky begins his 2014-15 performance season in Paris when he sings Giorgio Germont in Verdi’s La traviata. The Siberian baritone was described as “touching in the extreme” by The Guardian for his recent account of this signature role in London. At the Opéra National de Paris, Dmitri stars opposite Ermonela Jaho as Violetta and Francesco Meli as Alfredo. Dan Ettinger conducts performances that run from September 8 to 24.

    The beginning of September also sees the release of Dmitri’s new album, The Bells of Dawn, a collection of Russian sacred and folk songs, on Ondine. The Bells of Dawn is released in the United Kingdom on September 1, in Germany on September 8, and in the United States on September 9.Read More »

  • Dmitri reprises Songs of Soviet Composers in Tobolsk

    This weekend, Dmitri Hvorostovsky gives his final concert at the Tobolsk Kremlin. Reprising his new program of “Songs by Soviet Composers,” the Siberian baritone is joined by the Novaya Opera Orchestra and St. Petersburg’s Style of Five folk ensemble under the direction of Constantine Orbelian. Presented as part of the Tyumen Philharmonic’s summer season, the concert takes place on Saturday. Click here for tickets.
